Writing, to me, is simply thinking through my fingers. ~Isaac Asimov
A little about WritingMy name is MaryCaren D'Anniballe, and I have been teaching at Culver for 23 years. I attended National Louis University to earn my Master of Arts in Teaching, my reading specialist certificate, and my doctorate in reading and language. I live in Mount Prospect with my husband and two daughters, and I enjoy reading, writing, and teaching fitness classes.
This year, I am teaching writing to students in grades kindergarten through 8th grade, and we will be incorporating the 6 Traits into our writing. The 6 Traits model provides a common language to describe what good writing looks like, and it encompasses the traits of ideas, organization, word choice, voice, sentence fluency, and conventions. In my classes, students will learn that the first step to becoming a writer is to write about what they know and that in which they are interested. They will have the opportunity to use their imagination and apply the tools that they learn in class. My goal is to motivate students to be enthusiastic about writing! |
