Where words fail, music speaks. ~Hans Christian Andersen
A little about BandMy name is Hans Lindemann. This will be my 13th year directing the bands at Culver School. I grew up near Syracuse, New York and after high school, I decided to follow in my parents’ footsteps. My mother is a retired elementary music teacher and my father is a retired high school band director. I earned a bachelors degree at the Crane school of music in northern New York state (40 minutes from the Canadian border) and a masters degree at the VanderCook College of Music here in Chicago. I have the privilege of getting to know my students on their musical journey as they start in 4th and progress through 8th grade in both large group rehearsals and small group lessons. My students have had the opportunity to perform at Culver, Niles West High School, Golf Mill Mall, St. Benedict’s Nursing Home, at the Niles Tree Lighting Ceremony, at the Illinois Grade School Music Association Solo and Ensemble Festival. A highlight for my students over the the past few years has been a field trip to see the Chicago Symphony Orchestra perform. I have lived in Niles for the past 12 years with my wife, 2 daughters and 3 cats. I enjoy an annual family summer vacation trip to my family’s cottage in the Thousand Islands Region in Canada where we fish, sail, canoe, swim, grill lots of yummy meats. I play the tuba professionally in a brass quintet and play the bass guitar at my church. I also enjoy working with technology. |
